Last Wednesday my wife “enrolled me” into watching NBC’s The Voice during our mid-week date night.
Now, I don’t watch much t.v.; actually, I don’t watch t.v. period. In fact, I don’t even own a t.v. Point being, something really has to grab me in a powerful way to keep me glued to the screen, or I’m gone.
But for 1 hour, I was riveted.
To be totally transparent, at one point I had tears welling up in my eyes and I felt my chest heaving, holding back an avalanche of emotion rushing up through my body.
When it was over, I wondered with great curiosity what in the world caused such a rush of feelings to swell through me so unexpectedly.
And then it came to me: I was totally and completely inspired by the absolute commitment and courage that the contenders displayed while endeavoring to actualize their lifelong dream.
Imagine being so in love with something – so passionate and inspired about something – that you invest every last ounce of energy and the sum of all of your resources toward that one goal. That’s what landed those beautiful and courageous challengers on stage.
As I reflected on my life and my own dreams, I realized in that moment – with complete awe – that my dreams can become reality – quickly – by choosing to commit fully.
I asked myself if I was as committed to my vision as The Voice contenders are and if I was willing to eliminate all the distractions that I allow into my life in order to achieve that vision with maximum ease and speed.
Interesting question, no?
The moment we completely align with an endeavor, goal, dream, cause or role that we can honestly say we are totally in love with and wholly inspired by, is the moment we equally pursue and attract the realization of that dream with maximum ease and speed.
See, when you’re inspired, you don’t feel sick, hungry, bored, sad, resentful or angry; you don’t worry about money, or what you have or don’t have, or what others think about you.
When you’re inspired, you just do, because doing is playing.
What are you so in love with being, doing or having that would cause you to ruthlessly focus all of your energy and resources towards that dream, impervious to distraction?
Most importantly of all: wouldn’t it be un-fu*#ing-believably awesome to be that inspired by something??
Do you feel that way about something? About anything? If not, then truthfully, you should drop everything that you’re doing and figure that out. Because when you do, everything changes; you will focus everything towards the actualization of your dream.
Watch the first two and a half minutes of this clip and ask yourself if you "bring it" like these Voice contenders.
"When I met Marc, 90% of my income came from working with clients on a one-on-one basis, charging an hourly rate. Marc helped me create a year long program called Evolve. Now in its 2nd year, Evolve generated nearly $200,000 in revenue. My average income has increased 50% - 75% every year while working with Marc...he has been truly amazing to work with."
